Hello! G'day!
I did say I would try my best to keep up with writing and journaling my MBBS progress.. BUT if you were to have experienced just 8 weeks of constant writing.. you too would have the lack of drive to do this. (so here is me trying my best๐).
Note: I say "writing" but in our 21st century lifestyle.. its endless typing on the keyboard.
First thing's first... ALL the seniors who had told me 'THIS was the free-est semester..." Oi! that is straight up a LIE and a scam๐. It is ANYTHING but free. Maybe back then when they had done it as a face-to-face learning, perhaps so. As a batch that has been doing this ONLINE learning for 2 years almost... it was anything BUT FREE.
Here are 10 HONEST expectations!!
1. Be glued to your study chair for at least 8-10 hours. (Lectures, Tutorials, Group Discussion and ENDLESS report writing).
2. You will develop an elbow ache, wrist ache and finger ache from just typing.
3. You will have an ASS๐ flatter than a piece of paper by the constant ass-sitting you would be doing writing every single report, assignments and homeworks.
4. EXPECT to have like at least 6-8 things due in the same BLOODY week.
5. The TO-Do list on the class page is NEVER empty nor clear.
6. On top of writing and writing and writing... they somehow expect you to have an additional 6 hours to study all materials taught in class. (Burnt out, Hello old friend.)
7. You constantly will have 5-6 hours of sleep every second week cause that is when the avalanche of assignments hits you.
8. Forget your diet. My diet been haywire the moment Week 2 of this semester started.
9. Stress, Crying, and constantly feeling like absolute ๐ฉ is a thing.
10. If anything, this first half of the semester will definitely help you brush up on all your English and Writing-skills.
Courses taken the FIRST half of this Semester:
Note: DO NOT be FOOL by just 3 subjects = MORE FREE TIME
- Basic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
Pros: No EXAMS, NO Quiz and it is a HALF semester course
Cons: Weekly Homework (expect every lecture to have one), Thesis writing (Minimum 3000 words, a topic of your choice that relates to TCM or TCM vs comparing cultural med of your own country), Presentations (expect to hear the same topics presented more than 5 times by the entire batch).
My Take: No exams/ quiz was a blessing cause I'd be using those lecture times to do the weekly homeworks assigned in this course. Thesis was tedious, and defs go ask someone/ look up the proper way to write it (majority of your grade relies on this). I am grateful for my previous experiences in Thesis writing and editing in general. Hoping the markers who receive my work appreciates the efforts i have poured in ๐. Presentations are individually done and you have to pre-record your presentations. I swear my batch has some mad edit skills and presentation giving skills. Though all were unique in their own way of presentation, do expect to hear the same given topic presented more than once. Also, pick the earliest date to present (as it gets later through the semester... you have more shit to do on top of this). The things i have learn in this course can be seen in this image below ๐
This is a full semester course, so we still have it atm... BUT! my take on it so far is... the progress on learning the material is WAYYYYYYY faster and the professor does expect you to pick it up much quicker than before.
Thank god to my two favourite ่ๅธ's ๆ่ฟ๐ and ็พ่ ๐, for helping me in ALL things Chinese Language so far!!!
FIRST of.... THIS subject takes the MOST of your TIME. Yes, it is a 7 credits worth course... but JESUS.. the amount of things expected from you in this course... let me just list it out.
1. Physiology Online Lab Reports
2. Physiology Individual Tutorial Reports
3. Physiology Group Presentation PPT (+ script if you are the presenter that week)
4. Expect a Seminar Presentation like in Week 7 with the most hardest, most ridiculous, most time consuming paper you have to present on with your group.)
Pros:
Cons: Like ALL the above? The amount expected from us to deliver the assignments and learn this material is ridiculous. I would actually prefer more time to study and review than get pump with endless report writing and assignment writing. I now spend a good chunk of my day checking if this course has got ANY assignments up for me to do. So officially, I now hate writing any thing.
I have to also deal with these layout for another 8 weeks (LORD have mercy). I will be slamming my keyboards for the next 8 weeks doing these assignments cause that's how dedicated i am to finishing ALLLLL these assignments๐.
Note: The Pros is left blank on purpose. I didn't forget about it.
Presently, I just have ONE Mid-Term. Thank f*** its just Physio, and it isn't cam-monitored. That's all for now, till end of term for more rants on the other added subjects in the second half of the sem~
Thanks for reading!
