Week 4: Productive Breaks, Fun and class on a Saturday

 And....

In just a blink of an eye, a week of breaks ended, ALL too quickly.

Boy did I wish we had it longer and I wonder why don't universities ever consider a week long break, for every 3 week intervals? It would have been such a great way to be productive, catch up and teach myself more on these subjects I have this semester. Cons: Perhaps a later date to graduate.

How did everyone's week go?

I sure hope it was a good one, with plenty of productivity, time to recuperate and catch up on Zzzzs as well as spending more quality time with love ones.

My Agenda for the Week

I spent the majority of the week, (Monday - Thursday) being productive, learning and teaching myself. Why just Monday to Thursday?

A quick recap from last week's post: I have had a holiday from the 1st of October - 8th of October

What was on my list? MATH (Calculus) and Physics

Monday

Using the ideal resource every current university student seems to have leaned upon, 'YOUTUBE,' I traversed to this very place and searched for the IDEAL video to teach myself the topics that were covered in our lectures the past 3 weeks. As a 1st-termer I am now a strong advocate for ' Youtube, and TEACH myself.' Certainly not the grandeur of expectations for a first year in Med school.

This time round, I am using Professor Leonard's Calculus 1 videos on youtube to help me go through the material and understand the concepts. Despite the videos being extremely long (1.5- 3 hrs), it is truly beneficial for me to watch these, understand them and be able to apply them shortly after. As a visual and audio learner, having watch and listen to things allows me to pick things up way faster than the boring old, 'go through your textbook.' If you are a visual and audio learner, I seriously recommend him. (Shout out to Ryan for suggesting Professor Leonard btw...!)

As Yoong๐Ÿ’“ has so kindly put the true definition of what MATH actually stands for:

MATH = Mental Abuse To Humans

I truly believe that this is true indeed. Math and Calculus is torture. If  I were ever kidnapped and my kidnapper were to put equations after equations of Math/ Calc down. WATCH me breakdown. I will tell them EVERYTHING.

Tuesday

Decent weather today, despite the chilly breeze and cloudy atmosphere. It 100% beat the hot and humid weather the past 2-3 days. Although, Pollen season is here so that just leaves me constantly having to deal with my allergies.

Yes, I am one of the many in our population that actually has pretty bad allergies to pollen. On a good day, you would just hear me having a sneezing fit with the usual red eyes (due to constant eye rubbing). On a bad day, I can puff or rash up. Thank God for Benadryl, Anti-histamines and all it does to tone my reaction down a notch.

I stayed indoors mostly anyway, like the good citizen I am. Law-abiding confined to her house and her 5km radius zone since March 2020. (URGH). But seriously folks, Stay the hell at home if you dont need to be out and about. If you do, wear a mask. It protects you and everyone else during these looming COVID-19 crises.

What did i do on fine day Tuesday? Why it was more Maths and Physics of course!
Physics classes actually suck IRL  (if you know you know....) and learning on your own does too. And OH! I just realised we were given an assignment for Physics, where we have to use formulas and equations that we weren't taught, nor were they EVER in our lecture PPT.  NO i was not sleeping or day dreaming in class... THEY LEGIT were not there, nor were they ever mentioned.
A summary of our Assignment based of an image:-

Wednesday

MORE PHYSICS!
For Physics, I have been using a combination of Videos and the recommended Textbook for our syllabus. WHY?
Picture this. We are week 3, Lecture 3 of Physics... YET, we are somehow already in Chapter 11 of our textbook..

So I dare say we are ZOOM-ing in Physics is an understatement. We are travelling LIGHT SPEED in our syllabus apparently. And the MBBS 26' Batch are all on the same rocket ship. ALL ABOARD this rocket!!!

My mornings were dedicated to going through at least 2 Physics chapters in detail, and to FINALLY learn the formulas he didnt show nor explain in class myself for the assignment. Much URGH.

However, my Wednesday evenings were delightful, study call sessions with Yoong and going through questions per topic is productive, and certainly we will be incorporating these more in the future! ๐Ÿ˜

Thursday

OOOH its the last day of the break. I decided to not do any PHYSICS and MATHS. Instead i breezed through some of the flashcards i made for Chinese because in a week, I would be having a test on it, from (lesson 1-5).  A solid time to prepare, and revise through now that i have exactly a weekish before the test. However I had only used 2 hrs today for this. The rest of it, I decided to jump on the bandwagon of Genshin Impact and start my open world gaming experience.

To those that enjoy open world gaming, and aren't easily addicted to games. I highly recommend it. The graphics are stunning and the open world concept is really relaxing. Despite having to grind and find out things yourself majority of the time, it is actually a fun game to dive into! I certainly don't mind the grind and for now I am obsessed with the character what has Cryo capabilities. Pretty neat abilities per character so far, except AMBER... I hate bow and arrow characters. (And yes majority of the reason is cause i am wayy to slow at aiming and finding the perfect aim....).

Friday

ANDDDDDD..... We are back to the GRIND!
Daylight savings in Melbourne just means all my classes are now pushed an hour later than the usual.
Which means it will also finish later than originally intended. ๐Ÿ˜–

But hey, First day back of classes again and it is Chinese classes. THANK GOD. I would certainly hate coming back and my first lesson is Maths or Physics. BLERGH.
Chinese class was good! Today our teacher taught us remotely and it was still as productive! I do enjoy her classes, for it actually makes me feel I am actually learning 50% of the material during her lessons!

Saturday

Replacement classes! ๐Ÿ™…
We did had a LONG week break for a festival in China, so the school feels the need that classes missed out on that week will be evenly spaced and replaced per week from now.
Today's replacement classes is Biology!

Not too shabby for a weekend class, despite it being a solid 2 hr lecture. Again, if it were to be Physics or Math... just NO.
Biology is all right. I enjoy learning proper theoretical sciences OVER sciences that involve ridiculous amounts of formulas and numbers (Yes, you know which science I am referring to....)

BUT this time, The lesson mid-way through HAD to be cancelled. The entire school platform decided to crash and disconnect everyone and there was no way it could be fixed even after 50 mins of waiting. And yup,

The REPLACEMENT class is postponed again, till next Saturday.

Week 4. Fin.
